Escaping the shame of performing for Jesus
I heard our pastor, Matt Purkey, mention that Jesus had to deliver him from being a full-time minister and a part-time follower of Jesus.
You may think pastors have a special “inside track” to connection with Jesus. After all, it’s their job to connect with Jesus through the Holy Spirit and bring us astounding revelation each Sunday. At least, that’s what a lot of normal Christians believe.
But pastors do much more than study, pray and preach. Church work takes it’s toll on your soul. It’s easy for pastors to get used up, dried up, burned up and crushed.
Matt talks about his experience growing up as a pastors kid who became a pastor himself. God led him through the fire of starting a church then closing it down several years later. Along the way he came back to the truth that connecting with Jesus is the main thing.
