What would you do if you knew the end of days is only a week away?
Jesus said he would come like a thief in the night and that we should be ready and waiting. We’ve been waiting for a long time. But are we really ready?
We are back from a long break. In fact, I had some thoughts about whether to continue this podcast at all. Our last episode was a holdover from April. But we’ve decided to shoot for a schedule of one episode a month.
We sat down to record this episode the day before the great American eclipse. I wasn’t surprised to find a few comments about this event being a sign from God to America. And since our Friday group just finished a study on the book of Revelation I thought it fitting to discuss the End of Days.
Patrick brought up the question about what we would do if we knew Jesus return was happening in a week. (We chose Friday as an example.) I came from the perspective of Martin Luther’s supposed position that we should do the work we have in front of us right up until the time Jesus comes.
We discussed whether we’d have enough influence to change the minds of friends and family who are hostile or indifferent to Jesus.
We ask why the idea of Jesus’ return brings fear and panic. It’s easy to feel that we will lose so much when this world ends and we’re taken away. We don’t really connect with the fact that being with Jesus is going to be such a blast that the memory of this life will be like smoke in the wind.
